Workers compensation claim at UTS
All employees of UTS including casual staff, can claim compensation for wages and medical costs through UTS workers compensation, if they suffer an injury or illness arising out of, or in the course of their employment.
WorkCover scheme agent
In NSW, the WorkCover scheme provides workers' compensation insurance through contracted scheme agents to NSW employers.
UTS's WorkCover scheme agent is Employers Mutual Limited.

Making a claim
As soon as possible after an accident or incident occurs, UTS staff members who:
- seek medical treatment, and/or
- require time off work due to a work-related injury or illness;
should report the incident using the Hazard and Incident Reporting Online (HIRO) system and contact Safety & Wellbeing as they may be entitled to lodge a claim for workers' compensation.
Journey claim
You may also be covered by UTS workers compensation, if your injury occurred while:
- travelling to or from work, or
- on a break, such as when you're at lunch.
