Lighting and air quality
Overview
Air temperature is an important thermal comfort factor in work areas. The recommended temperature range to achieve thermal comfort in office areas is between 20°C and 26°C.
Interior lighting basic requirement for adequate lighting is that work must be easy to see and the light comfortable to the eyes. Illumination is measured in lux (lumens per square metre).
The UTS air conditioning temperature is set at 23°C.
UTS: Building services routinely conducts random tests of air quality.
The minimum level of illumination in UTS working areas is 320 lux.
Appropriate lighting levels are determined in relation to task requirements. Suitable lighting levels are described in Australian Standard AS1680.1 - 1990 Interior Lighting.
