Office and general areas safety risk management process

For all facilities and work activities under their control, supervisors and managers must:

  • identify hazards associated with them,
  • assess the hazard, and
  • control the hazard.

This process should always be undertaken in consultation with staff.

Inspections

An inspection, to identify health and safety risks, is to be conducted at least annually for each office and general work area at UTS. These inspections are required as a mandatory feature of faculty/unit environment, health and safety (EHS) plans.

Each faculty/unit EHS plan includes:

  • staff member/s allocated the responsibility for helping to co-ordinate and conduct these inspections, and
  • scheduled timeframe for the inspections.

Checklist

The office and general work area safety inspection checklist is a useful resource, that assists when undertaking the inspection, the checklist:

  • aids in hazard identification,
  • suggests a course of action to address most of the hazards you may find, and
  • provides a record of the inspection.
